With a background in physical theatre, Carlota collaborates with communities, young people, and fellow artists, exploring themes such as migration, identity, and mental health. Recently completing a DYCP (Developing Your Creative Practice) to enhance her work, she places a strong emphasis on inclusive practices and accessibility. She also delivers facilitator training, creating opportunities for people to develop as creative practitioners.

Currently, Carlota is immersed in a project addressing language barriers and exploring identity with migrant women in Bristol. She is dedicated to challenging preconceptions and fostering a deeper understanding of cultural diversity. Carlota was actively involved in Counterpoints Arts’ Platforma Festival 2023, where presented an event delving into the ethics of participation, creating theatre from lived experiences, and collaborating with migrants. She has been previously commissioned by Projekt Europa to develop an idea for co-created work with local communities (Projekt Elevate).

Additionally, she is a member of Migrants in Theatre, contributing to the movement’s goal of enhancing migrant representation in the UK theatre scene. As part of the Future Laboratory project, Carlota participates in research residencies across Europe, seeking to identify and amplify missing narratives on our stages. Through her multifaceted and socially conscious approach to art, Carlota Matos continues to leave a lasting impact on the world of theatre.
