About Afon Sistema
Maracatu is a Brazilian artform originating in Recife, Pernambuco. Drawing on origins from African, Indigenous & Portuguese influences, Maracatu is one of the most popular Carnival rhythms in the North-East of Brazil. Afon Sistema has been running for 10 years here in Bristol, and we are dedicated to studying and performing this music in a holistic way.
