SUMMARY:Global Majority Environment Gathering
DESCRIPTION:Across Bristol\, Global Majority communities are already engaging in environmental work in many different ways – through community organising\, food growing\, cultural practice\, land stewardship\, wellbeing and care. \nHowever\, much of this work remains unseen\, disconnected and largely excluded from how climate action is shaped in the city. This gathering creates a space to bring that work into the room\, on our own terms.  \nWhat to expect\nIn this participatory session we will: \n\nshare stories of how we are already engaging in environmental matters\nrecognise our strengths and assets: skills\, knowledge\, relationships and practices\nconnect across communities\nexplore how we want to influence what is happening in Bristol.\n\nWe will also introduce a simple overview of Bristol’s climate context\, not to overwhelm\, but to help us identify where our work already connects\, what we want to understand more\, and where we may want to influence or challenge.  \nThe session will include:\n \n\nsmall group conversations (Story Café)\ncollective reflection and dialogue\na participatory ‘fishbowl’ discussion\nopen space for collaboration and self-organisation\nshared food\, music and informal connection.\n\nWho is this for?\nThis gathering is designed primarily for Global Majority individuals and groups active in: \n\nenvironmental work\ncommunity organising\ncultural and creative practice\nland\, food\, nature and wellbeing\nstrategic and community leadership.\n\nA small number of aligned allies and institutional actors will also be invited to listen\, build relationships and support future pathways where appropriate. Come as you are. Bring your work\, your experience\, your questions and your curiosity. What becomes possible when we organise from what we already have? \nAge: 16+ (under 18s must be accompanied by an adult)\nVenue: The Pickle Factory\, BS5 0HL\nAccess: The main hall\, cafe and garden are all accessible to wheelchair users. There is an accessible toilet on the ground floor.\n \nPlease fill out this short form to book your place.  \nFacilitators\nJosé Barco (CoLab International)\nGnisha Bevan (Black Seeds Network/ Nature Rising)\n \nAbout Gnisha\nGnisha Bevan is an Educator\, Producer and Consultant. She leads the Black Seeds Network\, co-developed with Roger Griffith MBE\, to showcase and support the incredible work of Global Majority environmentalists around Bristol. She’s also the catalyst behind the award-winning Nature Rising Programme. Gnisha has advised on a range of environmental and social justice projects\, specialising in brokering equitable partnerships between grassroots communities and ‘mainstream’ environmental organisations. All materials provided\, and support will be on hand from local artist Saifoulaye Diallo and Louise Hill Davies. Flags will feature in the Flag Carnival at the Arts & Health Festival (10–13 July). \nThis event is produced by Super Culture and supported by Without Walls as part of the DIASPORA! 26 Festival 1–10 May\, celebrating the cultural diversity of the arts across Bristol and the South West region\, produced by Diverse Artists Network.

DESCRIPTION:Did you take part in DIASPORA! festival? Whether you were a performing artist\, a facilitator\, or just curious about who we are\, we’d love to see you! \nOur monthly Artist Gatherings are designed to bring together members of our network to connect\, share their projects\, and discuss areas where support is needed within the arts community. \nJoin us on Friday 29 May\, 11am–1pm\, for this month’s Artists Gathering. This session is an opportunity to share your festival experiences\, connect with fellow creatives\, and find out how we can support your practice year-round. \nWith members of the DAN team on hand\, come along to learn more about our agency\, discover the benefits of our memberships\, and get an exclusive first look at what we have coming up—including our latest project offers and opportunities. \nBring your DIASPORA! feedback\, your questions\, and come find out how to take your next step with the community. \nArtist Gatherings are free for DAN members or £5 for non-members. \n \n\n  \nPhysical Access\n\nLevel Access & Lifts: There is level access or ramp entry to the ground floor. An internal lift provides access to galleries and event spaces on Levels 1 and 2.\nWheelchair Loans: Manual wheelchairs are available to borrow for free on a first-come\, first-served basis; advance booking is recommended by emailing Visitor Services.\nSeating: Portable folding stools are available throughout the galleries\, and quiet seating can be found in the Reading Room on Level 2.\nAccessible Toilets: Fully accessible and gender-neutral toilets are located on Level 0 (inside the Café Bar) and Level 2. \n\nVisual & Auditory Support\n\nAudio Described Tours: Scheduled audio-described tours are provided for major exhibitions (e.g.\, the Everything is Energytour on January 30\, 2026). Recorded audio descriptions are also hosted on Soundcloud.\nLarge Print Guides: Large text guides are available at gallery entrances for all exhibitions.\nHearing Support: A hearing loop system is installed in key areas of the venue.\nLighting & Contrast: The building features effective lighting and strong color contrast on doors and floors to aid visually impaired visitors. \n\nAssistance & Calm Spaces\n\nAssistance Dogs: All assistance dogs and dogs in training are welcome. Water bowls are provided in the Café Bar on Level 0.\nRestful Spaces: The Reading Room is designated as a “Rest Friendly” space for visitors needing a quiet environment.\nCompanion Tickets: Free tickets are available for companions or carers of people with additional needs for ticketed events. \n\nArrival & Parking\n\nBlue Badge Parking: There are two designated spaces in the Mud Dock City Docks car park and additional spaces in the nearby Grove Car Park (BS1 4RB).\nPublic Transport: Most city centre buses stop at The Centre/Broad Quay or Queen Square\, roughly a five-minute walk away.
