DESCRIPTION:Join Ella McDonald from the BFI NETWORK team at Watershed on Friday 31st July at Arnolfini. Made possible through National Lottery funding\, BFI NETWORK collaborates with film organisations and leading cultural venues across the UK to provide short film and early feature development funding\, industry-backed professional development and networking support to producers\, writers and directors aged 18 and above. Our team\, based at Watershed in Bristol\, are proud to support emerging filmmakers in the south west.\n\n\n \n\n\nOur monthly Artist Gatherings are designed to bring together members of our network to connect\, share their projects\, and discuss areas where support is needed within the arts community.\n\n\n \n\n\nElla will be talking about New Voices: Step Up\, a free mentoring scheme for working-class writers\, directors and writer-directors based in the south west of England which will open for applications on Tue 7 July and close on Tue 12 Aug. They will talk about the scheme\, as well as offer top tips for applying. They will also outline the other opportunities BFI NETWORK south west offers filmmakers in the region.

This session is an opportunity to share your festival experiences\, connect with fellow creatives\, and find out how we can support your practice year-round. \nWith members of the DAN team on hand\, come along to learn more about our agency\, discover the benefits of our memberships\, and get an exclusive first look at what we have coming up—including our latest project offers and opportunities. \nBring your DIASPORA! feedback\, your questions\, and come find out how to take your next step with the community. \nArtist Gatherings are free for DAN members or £5 for non-members. \n \n\n  \nPhysical Access\n\nLevel Access & Lifts: There is level access or ramp entry to the ground floor. DESCRIPTION:Our monthly Artist Gatherings are designed to bring together members of our network to connect\, share their projects\, and discuss areas where support is needed within the arts community. \nNature’s loving embrace is our constant background yet world political events\, our own life challenges and social upheavals we are living through interrupt our innate connection to and belonging in this vast source of resilience\, insight and kindness. In this session you will be supported to reignite your unique relationship with nature\, with yourself as nature\, and the creativity this enables. There will be a guided meditation\, movement and space for collective reflection. Bring something that is resonating with you from among the emerging spring abundance – a blossom\, daisy or leaf bud for example. No worries if this isn’t possible\, there will be spares.\n\n  \n\n\nAccessibility Information:  \n\nBlue Badge Parking\nThere are two designated Blue Badge parking spaces within easy reach of Arnolfini in the Mud Dock City Docks car park\, accessed via The Grove Car Park. There are also five spaces in The Grove Car Park. Parking in the accessible blue badge spaces are free\, and are available on a first-come\, first-serve basis. You can find more car parks on the Travel West website. \nLevel Access and Lifts\nAccess to the main entrance is via automatic doors from the quayside\, which has a uneven cobbled surface. Then join us on Friday\, 31 October in the Community Workshop space at Arnolfini from 11am-1pm. \nThrough discussion\, reflection\, and mindful movement\, we’ll consider the embodied impact of rising fascism\, the emotional weight of social media\, and practical ways to protect our energy. Together\, we’ll nurture calm and love as powerful acts of collective resistance and care. \nLildonia Lawrence is a Wellbeing Coach and Equity & Diversity Trainer. Having worked in the field since 2010\, she specialises in BIPOC wellbeing\, anti-racism\, and equitable healthcare. DESCRIPTION:Our monthly Artist Gatherings are designed to bring together members of our network to connect\, share their projects\, and discuss areas where support is needed within the arts community.\n\n\n\nJoin us on Friday\, 25 July\, for our next Artist Gathering on socially-engaged arts practice. If you’d like to find out more about how art can foster community and belonging\, and make real and lasting social change\, come along to the Community Workshop space at Arnolfini from 11am-1pm. We’ll have some expert speakers sharing their experience of this field\, and talk about ideas on how to raise funds.\n\n\n\nJoining us will be the incredible…\n\nEmma Blake Morsi is an award-winning\, multi-disciplinary arts producer. A prolific visual storyteller\, she predominantly works across photography\, words\, illustration\, design\, film\, events and sound. \nIman Sultan West is an artist\, poet and cultural practitioner who explores through her work and words how community can be brought together through creativity and the understanding of heritage. \nJo Chalkblack\, a social practice artist and creative producer\, whose work centres on collaboration with communities. She focuses on co-creating outcomes that foster belonging\, support community cohesion\, and invite collective re-imagining and meaning-making through creative expression. \n\n\n\nSign up and come along to this interactive session!

DESCRIPTION:Our monthly Artist Gatherings are designed to bring together members of our network to connect\, share their projects\, and discuss areas where support is needed within the arts community. \nJoin us on Friday\, 27 June\, 11 AM–1 PM at Arnolfini Arts for our next Artists Gathering\, on balancing parenthood with a creative career. Led by Dr Natalie Hyacinth\, this session is for anyone juggling lots of different roles alongside their creative practice. \nNatalie is a sound artist and writer\, creating and thinking about music at the intersections of technology\, climate justice and Black life. Her research is intersectional and interdisciplinary\, incorporating themes from Cultural Geography\, Philosophy and Afrofuturism. Experimenting with sounds and sonic technologies as a form of defiance and resistance\, Natalie seeks to create new sound worlds as part of her activism\, a creative practice she explores under the name The Black Astral. \nSign up and come along to this interactive session! \n\nWe launched our memberships\, who receive free access to these events.
