DESCRIPTION:Join the DAN team and special Evaluator Dr. Roz Stewart Hall at St Pauls Learning Centre on Thursday 9th July\, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM\, for the DIASPORA! Festival Community Feedback Session. \nFollowing the incredible energy of this year’s 2026 festival\, this gathering is a wonderful opportunity to connect with others in the community\, share your thoughts\, and help us gather crucial feedback for our funders. Your unique experience is incredibly valuable to us as we look to learn\, build\, and improve for the next DIASPORA! festival. \nDuring this focused session\, we will be holding space to reflect on the festival’s journey and collectively shape its next chapter. Attendees will be invited to share their favourite highlights from 2026\, discuss why DIASPORA! is so important to them\, and provide honest feedback on what went well and what could be improved. We will also outline our vision for the future and explore new community-led ideas to build on this year’s success together. \nNote: Refreshments will be provided! \nPlease confirm your attendance ASAP so we can get an accurate idea of numbers for catering. SUMMARY:Artists Gathering on BFI NETWORK's New Free Scheme
DESCRIPTION:Join Ella McDonald from the BFI NETWORK team at Watershed on Friday 31st July at Arnolfini. Made possible through National Lottery funding\, BFI NETWORK collaborates with film organisations and leading cultural venues across the UK to provide short film and early feature development funding\, industry-backed professional development and networking support to producers\, writers and directors aged 18 and above. Our team\, based at Watershed in Bristol\, are proud to support emerging filmmakers in the south west.\n\n\n \n\n\nOur monthly Artist Gatherings are designed to bring together members of our network to connect\, share their projects\, and discuss areas where support is needed within the arts community.\n\n\n \n\n\nElla will be talking about New Voices: Step Up\, a free mentoring scheme for working-class writers\, directors and writer-directors based in the south west of England which will open for applications on Tue 7 July and close on Tue 12 Aug. They will talk about the scheme\, as well as offer top tips for applying. They will also outline the other opportunities BFI NETWORK south west offers filmmakers in the region.
