SUMMARY:Dancing & Drawing with Sachin & Anna
DESCRIPTION:Come dance and draw with dancers with Sachin and Anna. This session is a special for DIASPORA!\, offering festival-goers the chance to dance and draw live performers in a collaborative setting. \nAnna\, from South West Dance Theatre\, will lead dance activities based in ballet\, commercial\, and contemporary styles to help participants explore the qualities of movement. Sachin will then guide the group in capturing these motions on paper using a range of artistic techniques. Participants are welcome to take turns dancing\, drawing\, or being drawn as much or as little as they like. \nVenue: The Island Gallery\, Bristol\, BS1 2QD \nThe Island Gallery is located on the first floor of the building. Inspired by Japanese art\, Sachin’s work beautifully captures the fluidity and grace of the human form\, bringing a unique blend of tradition and contemporary artistry to life.\n@sachinbabbar \nABOUT ANNA \nAnna Davis is a dance performer\, choreographer and teacher who co-founded South West Dance Theatre in 2010. SUMMARY:Collective Dreaming for the Future with Many Minds
DESCRIPTION:‘What we cannot imagine cannot come into being’ – bell hooks\nJoin mental health and performance charity Many Minds for an interactive and inclusive workshop inviting you to dream with others\, of the future we are longing for in a collective act of imagination\, care and resistance. Centring people’s experience of culture and identity\, we’ll use creative exercises to dream boldly about what culture could become. \nIf you are a culture vulture\, engaged in the earth/ climate crisis\, love Afrofuturism\, have a strong sense of justice\, reparation\, community OR really struggle to think beyond today then this workshop is for you! DESCRIPTION:Makaani Arts is a new collective aiming to champion and showcase music and cultural crafts from the Southwest Asian and North African (SWANA) diaspora\, spanning from Morocco to Pakistan.  \nMakaani means ‘my place’ in Arabic. Or\, ‘I belong here’. Makaani Arts are inviting performers and practitioners with shared regional heritage to celebrate their art. Bridging cultures in a day of family-friendly community joy. \nExpect dance workshops\, live music\, film\, food and DJs. In collaboration with Chalguh Chengi\, Vilk Collective and the Diverse Artists Network.  \nSuitable for all ages. \nVenue: Trinity Community Arts\, BS2 0NW \n\nFEATURING \nChalguh Chengi\, meaning the spirit of live music and dance in Turkish\, is a collective of artists who celebrate the deep-rooted folk music and dance of Anatolia and the Mediterranean. Showcasing the inherent diversity and fluidity of the region\, this group brings live performance and fun\, interactive family workshops. \nVilk Collective is a musical collaboration between Roxana Vilk and Peter Vilk\, whose work is rooted in migration\, memory and collective voice.
