SUMMARY:Family Constellations Monthly Circles-Bristol
DESCRIPTION:Monthly Constellation in Bristol (Tues evenings): uncover hidden dynamics\, open new perspectives\, and restore flow in life and relationships \n\nAbout this event\n\nHealth • Personal health\n\n\n\n\n\n📅 Autumn 2025 Dates\n🕕 6:00 – 9:15pm at Subud Hall\, Clifton\, Bristol \n\n28 Oct 2025 ( pls note that on this date only the session starts at 6.30pm)\n25 Nov 2025\n16 Dec 2025\n\nYou’re welcome to join a single circle\, or come regularly and build a deeper connection with the work. \nWhat is Family Constellations?\nFamily & Systemic Constellations were developed by Bert Hellinger. They offer a way of looking beneath the surface of our difficulties — revealing hidden family and ancestral patterns that quietly influence our present-day lives. \nRather than analysing or telling stories\, constellations open up a space of direct experience. Someone brings an issue or question\, other people step in to represent members of their family system\, and together we begin to see what has been hidden. Often\, what emerges is a fresh perspective\, more space inside\, and the possibility of moving with greater ease and flow. \nIf you’re new\, you might like to watch Netflix’s Another Self \nWhat happens at a Circle? \n\nArrival and settling together\nA short exercise to build safety and connection\nTwo constellations each evening:\nOne Issue-Holder place is guaranteed (book in advance)\nOne is chosen by the field (names drawn on the night)\nClosing circle\n\nYou don’t need to bring an issue to take part. As a Representative\, you may step into the place of a family member\, ancestor\, or an archetype such as Love\, Fear\, or Freedom. Many people say their most powerful experiences come through representing rather than being the issue-holder. \nWhy come every month?\nConstellations are not a one-off. Like therapy or yoga\, the benefits build over time. \nJoining regularly as a Representative allows you to: \n\nLearn through many different stories\nFeel the work directly in your body\nNotice your own life gradually shifting in response\nBuild connection with a supportive group\n\nYou are welcome to join just once\, or return each month — there is no right or wrong way. \n🎟 Tickets\n\nIssue-Holder – £65 (only 3 guaranteed issue-holder places left this year)\nRepresentative / Witness – £35\nConcession Rep/Witness – £25 (limited\, on request)\n3-Month Rep/Witness Bundle (Oct–Dec) – £90 (save £15)\n\nPractical bits\nNo experience needed. Wear comfy clothes; water/tea and light snacks provided.\nWe keep a held\, confidential space.\nAccessibility or affordability questions? Please reach out. \nAbout Katie\nHello\, I’m Katie. I trained to advanced level with the Centre for Systemic Constellations (CSC)\, including Couples & Intimate Systems. \nBefore this work\, I spent years in the corporate world as a headhunter in London. I later trained as a coach and yoga teacher\, and for over a decade I’ve been teaching yoga in Bristol. \nI also come from a large\, blended family. I’m both a mother and a step-mother\, and have lived through the complexities of inter-racial marriage\, divorce\, and all the challenges and gifts that family systems bring. These experiences\, alongside my professional training\, mean I meet people with empathy and real-life understanding. \nPeople often describe me as direct\, warm\, and practical. My circles are not about performance or theory — they’re a space where we can sit together honestly\, and allow what wants to be seen to emerge. \n📺 Curious? Try Netflix’s Another Self or Goop’s constellation episode on YouTube. \nOther Upcoming Events\n\nSaturday 18 Oct 2025 – Full-day Constellation Workshop with Melissa (constellations & sound journey)\nFri 28 Nov 2025 – Introduction to Systemic Constellations Training Day with Jamie Colston\n\nFor full details see: www.katiedespres.com \n✨ Join us this autumn in Bristol to uncover hidden dynamics\, gain fresh perspective\, and restore flow in your life and relationships. \nOur Members get access to discounted prices to this event. \nAccessibility Information: \n\nUnfortunately this venue isn’t fully accessible due to two steps leading up to the hall.

SUMMARY:Family Constellations & Sound Healing — with Katie Despres & Driftaway
DESCRIPTION:Explore Family Constellations & sound healing in a full-day workshop. Gain insight\, release patterns & support your body to integrate. \n\nAbout this event\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFamily Constellations & Sound Healing — with Katie Despres & Guest Practitioner Melissa (Driftway Wellness) \nJoin a full-day workshop combining Family Constellations with sound healing integration. A chance to explore how family patterns live in the body and nervous system\, and how sound and systemic practice together can support release\, regulation\, and fresh perspective. \nWhat is Family Constellations?\nFamily or Systemic Constellations is a therapeutic approach developed by Bert Hellinger. It works on the principle that unresolved experiences in our family history don’t disappear — they can be carried forward into future generations as unconscious loyalties\, symptoms\, or repeating patterns. \nAs Dr Bruce Hoffman writes\, “The body is the final resting place of all your experiences. But not just your own. The body also carries the untold stories of those who came before.” This is at the heart of constellation work: to uncover what belongs to us\, and gently release what does not. \nA constellation creates a living map of these hidden dynamics\, using group members as representatives. Through this embodied process\, what is usually unseen becomes visible and felt. \nFamily Constellations can support you to: \n\nUnravel family and relationship challenges\nIdentify repetitive patterns in work or creativity\nManage stress\, anxiety\, and health concerns\nAddress financial limitations or blocks\nGain clarity on life direction and purpose\nRelease inherited emotional burdens\n\nWays to Take Part\nThere are different ways to participate in a constellation: \n\nIssue Holder – bring a personal or professional issue to explore. The group will support you in mapping your system.\nRepresentative – step into roles within other people’s constellations. This isn’t roleplay\, but a somatic process: many people experience powerful shifts and insights while representing.\nWitness – hold presence in the circle. Even from this position\, you may find parallels and resonance with your own life.\n\nNot every participant is guaranteed to have their own constellation. Typically we are able to explore four issues in a full-day workshop. At the start of the day\, we will explain how issue holders will be selected. What’s important to know is that every role is valuable\, and many people describe their most moving experiences happening while representing. \nWhy Sound Healing?\nWe will be joined by Melissa from Driftway Wellness\, who will guide a sound healing session in the afternoon. Sound healing uses vibration and resonance to work directly with the body and nervous system — helping to settle\, release\, and integrate. Just as constellation work reveals what is carried in our family system and embodied in our lives\, sound offers a complementary way to ground those shifts. \nThe tones and frequencies can soothe the stress response\, support emotional regulation\, and allow the constellation process to land more deeply. This combination of constellations and sound creates space for insight to move from awareness into the body\, so that integration is not just mental\, but felt. \nOutline of the Day (approximate\, timings flexible)\n\n10:00 – 13:00: Arrival\, introductions\, settling\, 2 constellations\n13:00 – 14:00: Lunch (bring your own or explore nearby)\n14:00 – 16:00: 2 constellations\nAround 16:00: Sound bath with Melissa\nClosing circle: Around 17:00- 17.30\n\n(We’ll remain flexible with timing to allow the process to breathe; this will be explained in the opening circle.) \nTickets\nFor this workshop there are two different ways to bring an issue: \n\nIssue Holder (Guaranteed) – For those who have something showing up in their lives that you knowyou want to explore. Buying this ticket gives reassurance that your constellation will take place. There are only 2 guaranteed issue holder spaces available.\nRepresentative – You take part as a rep and witness. During the day\, there will also be 2 constellations chosen from the field. If you’d like the chance to be selected\, you can put your name into the bowl. If chosen\, you may either take the place yourself or offer it to another participant.\n\nThis way\, everyone has a chance to experience the work\, whether through bringing an issue\, representing\, or witnessing. \nAbout Katie\nKatie Despres is a Systemic Constellations Facilitator and Yoga Teacher based in Bristol. She is known for her down-to-earth yet intuitive approach\, blending systemic thinking\, embodiment\, and grounded presence. \nKatie trained extensively with the Centre for Systemic Constellations under Gaye Donaldson and Chris Williams\, including advanced study in Couples and Intimate Systems. She has over a decade of experience in transformational work\, alongside 1\,500+ hours of yoga training with Yogasara Bristol under Yoga Elders Christopher Gladwell and Sarah Harlow. \nHer work is shaped by a deep interest in human relationships — how unresolved experiences are carried through families\, and how we can gently return what does not belong. She facilitates workshops\, 1:1 sessions\, and couples work in Bristol and online. \nAbout Melissa\nMelissa (Driftway Wellness) is a sound practitioner\, Reiki Master\, massage therapist\, and mindfulness teacher. She has been supporting people’s wellbeing for over a decade\, offering spaces for rest\, release\, and reconnection. A regular participant in constellation workshops\, Melissa brings an attuned systemic understanding to her sound healing work. \nWho Can Attend \nWhether this is your first constellation or you’ve experienced the work before\, you are very welcome. SUMMARY:An evening Family / Systemic Constellation Workshop with Katie Despres
DESCRIPTION:Do you find yourself stuck in repeated patterns or feeling unable to thrive in life areas such as relationships\, work\, money\, health? \nFamily & Systemic Constellations Evening Workshop\n“It’s a fascinating process and Katie held the space with warmth\, clarity\, intuition and care. … One notable thing to me was how the issue holders looked quite transformed – lighter\, happier\, ten years younger – as a result of working through the process.”— Emma Burleigh \nFamily Constellations is a profound and revealing process that helps uncover unconscious patterns and inherited influences that shape our experiences. Grounded in systemic therapy and ancestral healing\, this approach provides insight into how our personal challenges are often tied to our wider family system and past generations. \nDo you ever feel stuck\, lacking motivation\, or noticing repeating themes in your relationships\, career\, health\, or creativity? Have you wondered how certain patterns keep showing up in your life or what might be holding you back? \nThis embodied practice invites presence\, courage\, and a willingness to engage with the body’s wisdom. Unlike traditional talk-based approaches\, Constellations focus on experience — using movement and representation rather than intellectual analysis. \nWhat to Expect at the Workshop\n6:00 – 9:00/9:30pm\n\nOpening circle\, short meditation\, and check-in\nA group exercise & brief teaching to build safety\, trust and confidentiality\nTwo Constellations:\n1 guaranteed issue-holder place is available to book in advance. This is ideal if you know you want to bring a personal issue.\nThe second issue-holder is chosen by “the field”: names of those wishing to do a constellation will go into a bowl\, and one will be drawn on the night.\nClosing sharing circle\n\nYou do not need to bring an issue to attend. As a Representative\, you may be asked to embody a family member\, ancestor\, or even an archetype such as Love or Nature. Many people find that their most profound shifts come through representing for others. You may also attend simply as a Witness\, holding the space and receiving insights for yourself. \nFamily Constellations Can Support You In:\n\nUnravelling family and relationship challenges\nIdentifying repetitive patterns in career or business\nManaging stress\, anxiety\, or health concerns\nAddressing financial limitations and abundance blocks\nGaining clarity on life direction and purpose\nReleasing inherited emotional burdens\n\n\nKatie’s Approach\nI offer Family Constellations in a grounded\, practical way\, shaped by both professional training and real-life experience. I’ve completed all core and advanced training with the Centre for Systemic Constellations (CSC)\, including specialist training in Couples & Intimate Relationship Systems. \nWith a Psychology degree\, a corporate background as a London headhunter\, and over a decade in wellbeing as a Senior Yoga Teacher amd Coach\, I bridge both professional and holistic worlds. Personally\, I come from a large blended family\, am a mother and stepmother\, and have lived the complexities of inter-racial marriage and divorce. These experiences help me meet others with empathy and understanding. \nMy approach is direct\, supportive\, and down-to-earth. I create a safe space where transformation can unfold naturally — whether you are bringing an issue\, representing\, or witnessing. \nPractical Details\n\nNo experience needed — just wear comfy clothes you can move in.\nDrinks & snacks provided.\nConcessions available: please contact me if affordability is an issue.\n\n📺 Curious? Watch a constellation in Netflix’s Another Self or on Goop’s YouTube Channel. \nOur Members get access to discounted prices to this event. \nAccessibility Information: \n\nUnfortunately this venue isn’t fully accessible due to two steps leading up to the hall.

SUMMARY:The Jam Jar Presents: Ustad Noor Bakhsh
DESCRIPTION:“Life-affirming Balochi folk that can’t fail to stir something inside any member of the human race. At 80\, Ustad’s fairytale rise to the global stage isn’t quite as remarkable as the first benju note you hear ringing through his junkshop amp. A dizzying melange of sound from classical raag to zahirook\, Persia to Kurdistan\, birdsong to Bollywood – an unmissable musical experience that transcends time and space.” – Headfirst Editor’s pick \nInspired by birdsong and told through the twisting tones of the benju\, Ustad Noor Bakhsh’s music straddles the space between modern-day Pakistan and Iran\, evoking a vivid tapestry of emotion. Music that ignites the soul. \nThe Jam Jar Presents\nUstad Noor Bakhsh\n+ support from Dr Pete Yelding & Dhyan Singh\nThursday 28th August\nDoors Open 7.30pm\nThe Jam Jar\, Bristol\n– Standing show \nUstad Noor Bakhsh\, from near Pasni\, Balochistan\, is a master of the Balochi Benju (a keyed Zither)\, which he has played since he was a child. Noor Bakhsh is well known as a legendary instrumentalist throughout the Makran Coast\, but only garnered wider attention after his most recent recordings and videos. The Benju\, was once a Japanese children’s toy called the taishōkoto before it was adopted by Balochi musicians and made into the refined folk instrument that it is today. Noor Bakhsh plays an electric Benju\, getting his sound through an old pickup and small Phillips amp he bought from Karachi 2 decades ago. He carries forward the legacy of his teachers and inspirations such as Bilawal Belgium and Misri Khan Jamali but his own music elicits influences from various traditions and musical forms far beyond Balochistan. His virtuosic playing is deeply rooted in Balochi musical forms and enriched by his knowledge of South Asian Raags\, which he also renders in his own\, experimental style. \nHis repertoire includes Persian and Kurdish tunes that have probably floated in his land since before the modern borders of Iran and Pakistan were set up and Balochistan\, divided as it were. In one of his recent recording sessions\, he even played an Arabic Ghazal on his Benju. Needless to say\, he also renders popular and folk tunes in all the major languages spoken across Pakistan. His Sindhi repertoire is particularly novel in that it reflects a beautiful conversation between the neighbouring musical cultures of Sindh and Balochistan. No surprises\, that Noor Baksh plays several Bollywood songs too\, after all\, he has soaked the sounds around him like a sponge\, including those of all birds in the mountains and the jungle near his village. Other than his diverse repertoire\, he has several original compositions too\, including one inspired by bird songs. His debut album\, ‘Jingul‘\, was released digitally in September 2022\, and came out on vinyl via the UK’s Hive Mind Records on September 15\, 2023. \nFor listeners unfamiliar with Balochi music\, Noor Baksh’s electric Benju tone and his melodic ornamentations will be reminiscent of Ali Farka Toure’s style\, and polyrhythmic sixes and eights with so much groovy innovation and improvisation will make the body move in ways very similar to the music of West as well as East Africa. This is unsurprising\, given the well-documented migrations and seafaring\, historical\, intimacies between Balochistan and Africa\, via the greater Indian Ocean world. It is this world that his music brings back to life.

SUMMARY:Expression Stage at Bristol Harbour Festival
DESCRIPTION:A groundbreaking day of activism\, artistry and identity to take over Millennium Square – presented by Good Law Project\, Diverse Artists Network and Bristol Legacy Foundation \nThe 2025 edition of the Bristol Harbour Festival is set to deliver its most powerful programme to date\, as the Expression Stage at Millennium Square returns on Sunday 20th July with a line-up that blends activism\, urgent social commentary and cultural expression. Curated in collaboration with Good Law Project as well as Diverse Artists Network and Bristol Legacy Foundation\, the Expression Stage will feature major national names. Festival goers can expect to see presenter and campaigner Carol Vorderman and award-winning trans activist Ella Morgan alongside a host of emerging talents and community voices from across the South West. \n“Bristol Harbour Festival is one of the UK’s biggest free festivals – and bringing such powerful names to the Expression Stage reflects Bristol’s commitment to celebrating diversity of thought and voice.” said Leader of Bristol City Council\, Tony Dyer. “Highlighting these issues on such a huge platform in Bristol is exactly what we need to be doing. It’s about openness\, access and truth – all free to the public because our city believes in lifting these conversations up.” \nThe landmark partnership with Good Law Project will programme talks\, discussions and panels featuring Ella Morgan\, the first trans bride on Married at First Sight UK\, who will share the stage alongside Jo Maugham KC – barrister\, campaigner and founder of Good Law Project: a not-for-profit organisation that uses the law to protect the interests of the public. Their conversation will spotlight the trans experience in public life\, the media and society at large\, promising both vulnerability and empowerment. \n“At Good Law Project\, we believe in the power of lived experience to drive meaningful change. The Expression Stage is not just a platform – it’s a powerful amplifier for voices too often excluded from national conversations.” Jo Maugham\, Founder and Director at Good Law Project said. “To speak openly about injustice\, identity and systemic inequality in a space as public and vibrant as the Bristol Harbour Festival is both radical and necessary. This is about bringing real issues to mass audiences through the energy of culture and the authenticity of community.” \nIn the evening\, the stage turns to political accountability with an unmissable panel featuring broadcaster and activist Carol Vorderman\, Good Law Project founder Jo Maugham and green energy pioneer Dale Vince. Their session\, titled “A Year of Holding Power to Account\,” will reflect on political integrity\, grassroots influence and the fight for democratic fairness. \nElsewhere in the programme and kicking off Sunday at 11:00am\, the Bristol Legacy Foundation (BLF) will host a powerful workshop session featuring actor and singer Michelle Gayle\, exploring what it means to be an effective ally in today’s social landscape. This powerful session will explore the true meaning of allyship through the lens of anti-racism\, abolition and reparatory justice\, featuring contributions from BLF Chair Asher Craig and international campaigner Nils Agger. Drawing on lived experience and practical frameworks\, the discussion will challenge audiences to reflect on what it truly means to stand up\, speak out\, and build equitable partnerships that go beyond performative gestures.  \nThis will be followed by a Spoken Word showcase presented by the Diverse Artists Network centered around the theme of DIASPORA!. Beginning with an introduction by drama facilitator and curator Hiba Elhindi\, the spoken word session includes appearances from youth advocate Dayton Powell\, genre-fluid rapper Gracie Akinkunmi and singer\, songwriter and poetic performer Nia Bimkubwa\, and continues with a mix of emerging and established voices presenting work rooted in identity\, resilience and community. \nVandna Mehta Co Founder at Diverse Artists Network\, said: “The Expression Stage is a reminder that festivals aren’t just about entertainment – they’re about connection\, culture and community. This line-up reflects the beauty and strength of Bristol’s diverse creative talent. We’re proud to work with artists who bring lived experience to the forefront\, using spoken word\, music and performance to ignite empathy and action\, enabling diverse artists to be seen\, heard and be paid!” \nThe afternoon will shift focus to climate justice with a workshop on water pollution led by Jo Bateman\, a wild swimmer and right-to-swim campaigner taking legal action against South West Water\, and Katrina McDonnell\, gender equality activist and founder of Menstruation Matters. This is followed by a panel on protest rights featuring Gaie Delap\, a retired teacher and climate activist imprisoned for her role in a Just Stop Oil blockade\, Raj Chada\, a leading criminal lawyer specialising in protest defence and Blue\, a trans kids activist tackling transphobia from the Government and Media. These sessions aim to equip audiences with both the legal knowledge and emotional fuel to engage with today’s most pressing political issues. \nThe evening will come to a close with the Diverse Artists Network returning with a finale of spoken word performances by multidisciplinary artist Roxanna Vilk\, electric hip hop poet Blaise Penny Kirkwood (iAM13E) and British/Chilean illustrator and writer Valentina Huxley\, bringing the programme to an emotional and artistic crescendo. \nWith themes spanning environmental justice\, gender identity\, political transparency and creative resilience\, the Expression Stage at Millennium Square positions itself not just as a platform for performance\, but as a vital civic space. It invites audiences to listen\, reflect and participate in conversations shaping our collective future. \nFor more information and updates on Bristol Harbour Festival\, head to the website and follow the event on Facebook and Instagram.
