With activities spanning community spaces and the hospital\, it culminates in a joyful beach weekend. The festival invites all to explore\, learn\, and connect through art. DESCRIPTION:Our monthly Artist Gatherings are designed to bring together members of our network to connect\, share their projects\, and discuss areas where support is needed within the arts community. \nJoin us on Friday\, 27 June\, 11 AM–1 PM at Arnolfini Arts for our next Artists Gathering\, on balancing parenthood with a creative career. Led by Dr Natalie Hyacinth\, this session is for anyone juggling lots of different roles alongside their creative practice. \nNatalie is a sound artist and writer\, creating and thinking about music at the intersections of technology\, climate justice and Black life. Her research is intersectional and interdisciplinary\, incorporating themes from Cultural Geography\, Philosophy and Afrofuturism. Experimenting with sounds and sonic technologies as a form of defiance and resistance\, Natalie seeks to create new sound worlds as part of her activism\, a creative practice she explores under the name The Black Astral. \nSign up and come along to this interactive session! \n\nWe launched our memberships\, who receive free access to these events. SUMMARY:Artist Retreat: Deep Time Walk with Diverse Artists Network and EcoWild
DESCRIPTION:In this 2 hour walk through beautiful countryside south of Bristol you will get to know the land as well as connecting with the past and the great flow of life that has brought us into existence! \nWe will walk at a steady pace to suit the needs of the group\, and there will be pauses as we step through Deep Time – the epic journey that has formed this landscape and that will continue beyond our lives. You will be invited to share reflections with others in the group as part of this. The route is gently undulating fields without steep inclines. We will visit the Stanton Drew ancient standing stones site along the way. \nThis practice is drawn from the Active Hope work by Joanna Macey and others that invites us to see with ancient eyes\, offering new perspectives to this short time we have on earth. \nOn the way back we will Gather the Gifts of our Ancestors and let the land guide us through the human journeys behind each of us. \nThis walk is for Diverse Artist Network members and any other Diasporic Creatives. The route is not wheelchair accessible. \nMeeting place: Outside the Rising Sun\, Church Street\, Pensford. \nDiverse Artists Network is a development agency for diversity in the arts\, promoting cultural competency and representation in the sector. Our organisation brings together artists\, creatives\, and musicians across Bristol and the South West region with the aim of building national and international networks that encompass the broadest spectrum of diversity and representation.
