Job Description: Freelance Manager – Arts Organisation

Position: Company Manager
Organisation: Diverse Artists Network (DAN)
Location: Arnolfini, 16 Narrow Quay, BS1 4QA, Bristol
Type: Freelance Contract – Initially for 1 year 

Compensation: £150 per day (8 hours)

We are seeking a Company Manager to oversee and deliver operational excellence across our activities while driving forward the organisation’s strategic vision.

Key Responsibilities

Organisational Management 

  • Ensure the CIC’s processes and systems are run effectively and efficiently.
  • Implement an effective monitoring and evaluation system, according to the needs of the organisation.
  • Managing the organisation’s key milestones. Ie funding report deadlines or project timelines 

Programme Delivery

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the artist agency, membership scheme, and related initiatives
  • Oversee the successful delivery of networking events, artist CPD (Continuing Professional Development) sessions, and other key activities. (With the delivery team).
  • Oversee budgets, timelines, and resources to deliver projects effectively and efficiently. 

Team Leadership 

  • Provide guidance, support and line management to team members, fostering a positive and productive working environment.
  • Implement an effective HR Culture and processes to support the individuals and the organisation’s core aims.

Communications and Reporting

  • Ensure clear and effective communication with all stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • Prepare and present reports on operational activities, achievements, and challenges to the organisation’s leadership or board.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • Proven experience in management within the arts or creative industries.
  • Strong leadership and planning skills.
  • Excellent organisational and project management abilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Financial acumen with experience managing budgets.
  • Passion for the arts and supporting artist development.

Desirable

  • Experience managing artist agencies, membership schemes, or professional development programs.
  • Knowledge of funding landscapes and partnership-building in the arts sector.
  • Experience working in a small organisation.
  • Knowledge of CRM systems. 
  • Lived experience of being from a minoritised or marginalised background. 

Details

  • Contract Type: Freelance
  • Hours: 2.5 days a week (20 hours)
  • Compensation: £150 per day
  • Start Date: Monday, March 10th, 2025
  • Location: Arnofini, 16 Narrow Quay, BS1 4QA
  • Core hours Tuesday mornings Team meeting compulsory, 
  • Other hours: to be agreed with the senior leadership team, who work Monday day, Tuesday day and Friday mornings.

We can  make adjustments for childcare and reasonable health needs. Changes to work patterns need to be formally discussed and agreed.
