Introduction
Diverse Artists Network acknowledges the importance of providing equal opportunities for all individuals, irrespective of their background. This policy outlines our stance on equal opportunity across all facets of employment, including but not limited to recruitment, promotion, and employee support. Our goal is to foster an inclusive environment that encourages and enables all employees to act without bias and to prevent discrimination based on sex, race, marital status, contract type (including part-time and fixed-term), disabled, age, sexual orientation, or religion.
Statement of Policy
- Diverse Artists Network is committed to ensuring that no job applicant or employee experiences less favourable treatment or is disadvantaged by any conditions or requirements that cannot be justified, regardless of their sex, race, marital status, disability, age, contract type (part-time and fixed-term), sexual orientation, or religion. We are dedicated not only to meeting our legal obligations but also to actively promoting equality of opportunity in all employment aspects.
- We recognise the value and benefits of a diverse workforce, selected based on individual capabilities and contributions, which aligns with both the organisation’s and employees’ best interests.
- Our recruitment, training, and promotion policies will be applied equitably to all, based solely on job requirements and the individual’s qualifications and merits.
- All employees will be informed about this policy and its implications for their roles within the organisation.
Recruitment and Promotion
- Job advertisements will provide clear and accurate information to help potential applicants evaluate their suitability for the position. Vacancy announcements will be designed to reach a broad audience without limiting applicants based on sex, race, marital status, disability, age, contract type, sexual orientation, or religion.
- Our recruitment materials will not suggest a preference for a particular group unless a genuine occupational requirement exists, which will then be clearly stated.
- Vacancies will be announced internally to ensure all current employees have the opportunity to apply.
- Job descriptions and specifications will list only necessary and justifiable requirements for the effective execution of the role.
- Selection processes will be thorough, based on defined criteria, and focus solely on the applicant’s suitability for the job. Questions about personal circumstances, if necessary, will be strictly related to job requirements and asked of all candidates.
Employment
- Diverse Artists Network will not discriminate in assigning duties to employees with similar job descriptions, regardless of any protected characteristic.
- Reasonable accommodations will be made for employees who become disabled during their employment or for those with disabilities being appointed to positions.
- Opportunities for career development and promotion will be based solely on individual merits, ensuring equal opportunities for all.
Training
- All employees will receive appropriate training, without discrimination based on any protected characteristic.
- We encourage employees to discuss their career prospects and training needs with their Line Manager or HR Department.
Grievances and Victimisation
- Discrimination is considered unacceptable behaviour and may lead to disciplinary action under the organisation’s Disciplinary Procedure.
- Complaints of discrimination will be addressed through the organisation’s Grievance Procedure, ensuring a fair and respectful process for all involved.
