About Carlota Matos
Carlota Matos (she/her) is a Portuguese theatre and performance artist creating socially engaged work internationally. Her practice explores identity, migration, and mental ill-health through participatory, documentary, and experimental formats. Frequently collaborating with charities, multidisciplinary artists, and underrepresented communities, Carlota is committed to increasing access and representation, especially for migrants and disabled individuals. She’s worked with Projekt Europa, Counterpoints Arts, and led residencies at TalentLAB and O Rumo do Fumo. Currently, she runs an arts project for migrant women in Bristol with refugee charity Borderlands, offering workshops, cultural trips, and performance-making rooted in community empowerment.
