CROWN/تاج is the UK’s first touring production combining classical Persian dance, contemporary dance and Sufi whirling to tell a story of displacement, identity and body sovereignty to an original soundtrack of live music and electronica.

Maria Tarokh directs this female-led production, featuring brilliant contemporary and classical dancers and virtuoso classical Persian musicians. Watch the trailer and then get your tickets here.

ABOUT MARIA
Maria Tarokh is a British-Iranian dancer, choreographer and director based in Devon, trained in ballet, contemporary and classical Persian dance in the UK and San Francisco. She is the founder and director of Company SHE, a touring dance company associated with Exeter Northcott Theatre, whose work explores migration through performance and installation. Her credits include the Olivier-nominated RSC production of English and collaborations with Shakespeare’s Globe, the Brit Awards and the Royal Shakespeare Company. She holds an MA in Middle Eastern Studies from SOAS and is a specialist in classical Persian dance.
