Building Global Connections

At Diverse Artists Network were an ever-evolving organisation committed to fostering networking opportunities and bringing valuable resources into the communities we represent. As we prepare to launch our membership scheme, this is a glimpse of the kind of work members will be able to engage with and benefit from. Kori Youth Charity in London, with whom we have a long-standing relationship, reached out to our Co-Founder, Deasy Bamford, to host a visit from Brazilian professors interested in learning about youth, community, and creative projects in Bristol. This visit aligned with their plans to implement an affirmative action project for Black and Indigenous postgraduates.

On Monday, October 21st, we had the privilege of hosting Professor Claudia Sampaio from Universidade Federal do Amazonas in Brazil. We introduced her to several local organizations, including Curiosity Unlimited, Imayla, Growing Futures, EOTOUK, Bristol Rainforest Organisation, The Vench in Lockleaze, and Glen’s Kitchen. With the help of Kabbo Ferdinand and Diana Sabogal from The Vench, we provided an insightful tour of these community-driven initiatives. Professor Sampaio was deeply inspired by the dedication of Bristol’s leaders and the incredible work being done for young people. Universidade Federal do Amazonas has a four-year project aimed at connecting their Black and Indigenous postgraduates with international networks, offering them valuable experience. We hope this exchange will result in Brazilian postgrads working with Bristol’s youth, community, and arts projects in the near future, fostering international links and shared learning.
