Last weekend’s far-right demonstrations and subsequent violence were extremely upsetting to witness. The nationalist agenda with its racist words and actions is dangerous, unnerving and abhorrent.
As an organisation committed to diversity, equity and freedom of expression, the Diverse Artists Network absolutely condemns this agenda, and stands with all communities targeted by hate. We believe solidarity across people of different backgrounds is the antidote to division and fear, not its cause.
If you or anyone you know has been affected by recent events and/ or the current political climate, some of these organisations might be able to help:
- Bristol Hate Crime + Discrimination Service
- Stand Against Racism and Inequality (SARI)
- South Gloucester Race Equality Network (SGREN)
- Race Equality North Somerset (RENS)
- Keeping Bristol Safe Partnership
- Aid Box Community (ABC)
We’ve also been running some Community Recovery Conversations, in response to the far-right violence of last year. We had no idea when we started that project how timely it would become. Check out the events page on our website for more information, including details of how to join.
Finally, here are a few links to some myth-busting articles, to counter all the disinformation:
